Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Did you check to see if the shaft is rotated as to engage the parking brake function of the caliper. If not you might try turning the shaft coming out of the back of the caliper. A box end wrench or a deep socket should work to grab it. I just don't remember what size off hand.

The parking brake is not engaged. The caliper piston is all the way back. The rotor will not fit with the brake pads installed. My rotors are 1.29" thick. Have you ever heard of this issue before? What is the inside width of your calipers and how thick are the brake pads you are using?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have a pair of used calipers at the shop. I'll check out the fitment tomorrow and post my findings here. I have not heard of this issue from any of my other customers.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Do you know of any customers that we can contact? Perhaps they can be of some assistance too. What size rotor, caliper inside width, and brake pad width and what brand they went with is all I need.

thanks!

No, These only work with the '64-'82 GM truck 12 bolt and '80-'87 truck 8.5 10 bolts.

Does your Suburban have the Eaton HO52 or the Dana 60?

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Right now I can't think which of my custromers that have bought these brackets are using the Eldorado calipers.

I can not get a set of the D122 pads until tomorrow, but I did put a set of the D52 pads in a Eldorado caliper today. With the piston all the way retracted, there is 1.312" (1-5/16") between the pads. The pads I used were each about 9/16" thick. I'll check again tomorrow when I get the D122 pads.

Cadillac rotors are 1.22" thick. Astro rotors are 1.29". After looking at several different places I simply can not find any D52 pads that are thin enough to work. If you happen to find some that will work please let me know as soon as you can. If D52 pads will not work with these calipers please pm me.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I got my D122 pads from O'Reilly's this morning. I put a set inside a caliper and the Astro rotor fits with a little room to spare. The D122 pads are noticeable thinner than the D52 pads. I didn't get a chance to try a set of D52 pads with the rotor as I had a bunch of work to do today. I'll try and check the D52 pads tomorrow.
