Re: What did you do to your truck today!

ole dollor now has a auto trans , instead of granny 4 speed, had to get a 153 tooth flex plate instead of the 168 tooth i had, starter is said to be a big block starter, put in a lokar auto floor shift its a 16" shifter. sure glad i did not get the 23" one...got all the odds and ends finished and took it out for a drive, when i stop trying to stomp a hole in the floor board trying to find the clutch it will be better, i drove about 45 miles and no leaks or noises. i think i am going to love it better than i did...and a few pic's.

Like the stance. I'm going to install 2.5 drop spindles and wasn't sure what drop spring to use in back. Was thinking 4" but like the looks of yours. Not so low you can make it over speed bumps.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Drove it for the first time in a few weeks. Hope to do more than keeping it sorta lubed by running it once every few weeks, maybe a camping trip is in my future; my wife is asking about our 32nd anniversary plans...

No, Silly!

Once you climb in, you pull them into the cab and put 'em in your pocket.

You got any more pics of the install and what tranny is that? Did you have a manual shift in this before?

did not take any pic's of the install, just the th 350 painted , and the pic. of the 168 tooth flexplate that i put in and was to big. it started life as a granny four speed and i changed it over to a auto, it still has the 292 six cyl. its hard to get parts for the 292 and a lot of trial and error. but its back on the road after about 3 weeks of ordering parts and waiting on them to come in, the only pic i took of the install was after it was in and through the floor, need to take some sense i got the floor shift in and the a/c moved back to the middle of the dash.and all back together, also put in a new am fm radio. the old one was no good from the day i put it in. i do like the auto better that the old four speed, old knees need an auto....

So when you first did the change to the auto, what did you do with the clutch pedal? Did you have to change anything under the dash with the pedals.

all i did was take the clutch rod off the pedal assembly that went through the fire wall , and all the bell crank parts off the motor. on the pedal i did not want to cut it off and did not want to take everything apart to take it off, so i tied it to the floor and put it under the carpet. one of these days i might just take it out from under the dash . but for right now i will leave it under the carpet, you don't even know it's there.

i will take a pic Monday and post it of the floor and the pedal .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Order up a copy of the "1969 Chevrolet GMC Truck Shop Service Repair Manual Book Engine Drivetrain OEM" today. Very excited as I love to tinker but I am no mechanic. This should help a lot in my journey I think. Ebay for $23.58
