Re: Headers

I have that set on my 2003 Z71 Tahoe and love the sound especially with it going thru my Dynomax cat-back exhaust with the Ultra Flo muffler. I would recommend that you use the factory exhaust manifold gaskets though. The paper ones they provide leak for most people. Easy to install but getting the old y-pipe out requires either removing the transmission cross-member or cutting the y-pipe apart. There is a good thread about these on here with pics from my Tahoe and several others even a video. Its called "ebay Long Tube header install". There is a drawback to these but easily overcome. The spark plug wire is too short on the number three cylinder to clear the weird hump up the header does. Best solution is to get a set of msd 8.5mm wires. They are longer and have adjustable boots to angle for clearance. I also had to use spark plug extenders on the rear O2 sensors to keep the service engine light from coming on and an egr block off plate to cap off the egr port on the passenger header.

Re: Headers

Wow those have gone up in price! I bought that setup about 18 months ago for $230 shipped. I put them on a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 2wd with the 4.8. As bigsteve97 said you need to cut the stock Y out. Saws all baby. I had the muffler shop put a few feet or pipe and ran it through a 18" cherry bomb and dumped it at the rear axle. Sounds alright, little bit of cackle at shifts under heavy throttle. I also recommend using stock style metal gaskets. I just reused my stockers. Good time to do plugs and wires if you are needing to.
