Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

So, as I mentioned before, we located a new cab. I went to look at it Thursday, had it delivered on Friday. It is in awesome shape!

So, the three of us lifted it off the pallet yesterday, and got it on Walt's custom made cab stand.

Cleaned it yesterday, and immediately started the fabrication of the Shifter location and custom console.

It is remarkable - the floors, rockers, firewall...everywhere: Excellent shape. No rust at all.

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

The cab is originally a 1970 4-speed. So, score! Clutch pedal, high hump all included. And the glass is perfect

Walt fabbing up the high hump.

Confirming shifter location in my old cab

Yup - perfect fit.

Well, ran out of 1/4" tubing. That was 40 feet. Have to buy 60 more feet. This is going to be awesome.

Functional and useful. Here is where we ended up last night. Getting ready to hit it again shortly

Tell that guy to be carefully grinding around all that good glass. Those sparks will destroy it.

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

Hey guys! Thanks for the compliments, indeed! I got a little distracted over the last couple of days. I drove about 200 miles round trip to go buy a sister for Dianah! She will help Dianah get from point B to point F if needed. Something I have always wanted. A C30 Dually. Pics coming soon

PS - the grinding has been done really out of the cab, the angles might look like they are in there, but he is outside.

(Before)

(Got it home ^^^)

(Next morning ^^^)
PS - the oil marks are from the 88 GMC that was parked there. Thankfully it is gone! This truck does not leak and runs great. Just needed to get it one color.... (see below)

Haha! Thanks buddy! It is a 1982 Chevy Scottsdale Camper Special. It was a 6.2 diesel, but the PO put in a built 350 and TH350. I am going to pull it out eventually and do a 6BT and manual transmission of some sort.
I am impressed with the torque and pep of this setup. The PO told me he pulled a 12,000 lb load last week with no problems. I believe him.

(After)

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

On this dually, I eventually want it to be bagged...if it could lay frame and tow Dianah and two of her girlfriends around, wouldn't that be awesome? I also love the Longhorn bumper on the back...pretty cool to me.

She was serious. I told her no, I gave it the "Leon Under Construction" treatment.

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

here is rhe basics of how we are going to do the removable floor.the locks will be on each brace its just illustrated on the end. what do you guys think?
this is obviously for a stepper but can be applied to a fleet you would just need to remove the wheel wells first

I didn't ask for help, but she wanted to make sure I cleared the racks in the back of the garage. That looks good...cannot wait!
