Best shocks for a 4x4 daily driver

I have a 1971 K5 and the shocks are pretty old. I don't go off-roading except for the yearly trip to the Outer Banks.

I just would like better smoother ride. The PO has some Monroe heavy dutys in now. I realize that it's a truck and it will always be a bit bouncy. (that is what makes it fun to drive). Just looking to smooth out as much as I can.

I have read a bunch of great stuff about the rancho rs9000 shocks. I have a set, just haven't installed them yet to know for myself. They were kind of pricy, but rancho has a rebate offer now to save $25 per shock, which helps if you shop around to find the best deal.

I put KYB shocks on last year. They seem pretty good, it was the best performance shock I could find for stock height and a smooth ride.

The Rancho 5000s are stiff as hell - always hated them.
The Rancho 9000s are great with the adjustability - just pricey little buggers.
I've had KYBs leak after a short time - that pisses me off.
Bilstein always makes the best stuff - not sure if they have something for our trucks.

I ended up buying the best ones that NAPA had (a variable valve setup made by Monroe) and I'm very pleased with the results. It rides better than I expected and it didn't cost a pile.

I wanted Bilsteins but they didn't make either the front ones or the rear ones for 4x4 Blazers and I wanted the same brand all the way around.

I agree with POS1 Rancho 5000's are stiff as hell. My buddy had the 9000's and we tested the truck with the knob from softest too the hardest setting and it made a big difference in the ride quality.

Thanks for the input.

It appears the 9000s have been replaced with the 9000xl which hopefully are just as good.
