Another Hot Wheels Custom 69 hitting stores

Yet another Custom '69 to look for.
Zamac. Unpainted; except for decals/tampos.
The Zamac versions are a Walmart exclusive.

Re: Another Hot Wheels Custom 69 hitting stores

I have ideas for that one. I don't care for the red version but thought if I found one I'd use that as a base and try painting over with a transparent color. I know a zamac base would turn out great! Gotta start looking for a good top coat paint.

I was at Walmart the other day and just had to check the rack. I have gotten tired of flipping through. I don't know, maybe from doing it so much over the years I'm burned out. I hate how they always fall off. But still, out of habit,I stop by for a "glance". I flip a little and look from the ends. They had an extra rack at the end of the aisle I almost missed and there hung twp green trucks in plain view. That was EASY!

I've gotten the same way. I canNOT walk into a Wal-Mart without taking a quick pass down the car aisle. I try to look down the bottom of the rows to read the model name so as to not have to flip through the pegs and have cars falling off everywhere, but there are days I just look at the front of the cars hanging there and just decide there's nothing interesting enough behind for me to even bother digging.

Re: Another Hot Wheels Custom 69 hitting stores

Be sure and check for dump bins; usually located in the main aisle next to the toys; but not always there. . One of the local stores moves it around every 3-4 days.
Both local stores have an endcap set up; at the main check-outs also.

I've only found two of this version; so far. They both have the middle of the frame rails missing too.
See post #18 for what I am talking about. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=553512

Re: Another Hot Wheels Custom 69 hitting stores

I found one of these trucks at the swap meet from 2002, it was all orange, even inside the bed along the cab, no designs on the side, and had the hotwheels logo on the tailgate.

I think you mean red; but anyways; that one from '02 was the first Hot Wheels or any diecast I ever bought. Now I can't stop.
I think there are around 30 different color/wheel variations now; that are just Hot Wheels. Jada and Green Light put out several different colors also. This is just the 1:64 scale. Jada also puts out 1:24 scale. There are several other companys that put out 1:24 scale; I just can't think of them right now.

That's where my lazy arse found two of the green version. I was walking out of the isle and noticed it,saw one truck on the outside, then decided to look through, and found the second one. I love those racks. They're down low and you can peer through it all. I know...I sound really spoiled, lazy,or jaded. Yeah, you're right

Re: Another Hot Wheels Custom 69 hitting stores

I found the red one yesterday at Walmart at the RX counter, then I went to the toy section and there were no singles. I've seen a green one Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestler)paint scheme on line but never a single at any here.
The only other one was also red but in the 9 pack. I picked the 9 pack anyway.
The other 8 I dropped off in the box at the Child Crisis Center.

Re: Another Hot Wheels Custom 69 hitting stores

A couple weeks ago I was killing time out of town at a Super Walmart and found the red one in a big bin. Then yesterday I was at a flea market and got a Zamac for $2. That guy said there's also a purple version? I couldn't find anything on it last night. I got three special '67 Camaros, too, and a nice gold '67 Firebird w/RLRRs (HW Garage). The Camaros were the Orange Ultra Hots,Grumpy's Toy Milestone Moments, and the blue Motor City Classics. All with RRs. I've decided to go after the '67 Camaros...pretty much any without silly tampos and mostly the upscale/LE with Real Riders. They've had some nice regular blister packs, though. I'll start buying the '67 Firebird, too. Not sure about the Camaro Conv. or the '68 COPO,yet. That COPO is more like a Yenko COPO,I guess

I think maybe the purple version is the one released a few years ago. There were two versions of it also. One had a red painted line under the tailgate and the other had a blue line. They were made in different countries also. The red painted line version is really hard to find.
Check the pictures here. First picture; fifth truck down. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=566417
Or it might be the one in the fourth picture; from the Hot Wheels Garage series. They had a really short distribution on that one. They sell for $15-$25 on eBay.

I thought he was talking about a purple version of the HW Showroom design.

Could be. Hot Wheels is releasing all these different colors so close together now. Seems like it used to be years apart.
