Re: 80's nascar truck???

This has been one of the ideas floating around inside my head for my truck as well. I can't decide between this look with Aero or Basset 15x10's or keeping the fishin/farm truck look and throwing some classic look 5 spoke 20's on it.

Re: 80's nascar truck???

Neat idea, been done with many cars, why not a truck?

Have to go with the 15" wheel though to pull the look off 100%. Per Nascar rules you won't see 20" wheels on any of the series, so installing them on a clone would just confuse the idea you are after. Go for the look, go all the way

LOL I had the idea for quite sometime. Does the roll bar that comes out the back to the bed go threw the back window of the cab? Im thinking 15's with the actual nascar tires. I know they used slicks and in most areas these are illegal for street use but I have found a local company here in OK that buys and sells them and will actually slot the tread for and additional price and say that are still safe to use and are legal then.

Re: 80's nascar truck???

I used to have some GTS headlight covers for my 85 like the ones in the photo. Kind of reminds me of the nascar look with them on there. I used to have an old polaroid photo with them on my truck but I think it is long gone by now.

Are you talking about the nascar trucks or pics of our trucks with the headlight covers on them. I tried to google for pics with headlight covers but haven't found any yet.

The nascar trucks. I think if we could find some more pics of these then they should have the headlight covers on them.

I love this article where it talks about Richard Childress, Manager and crew chief of the Piedmont Airlines Winston Cup team with driver Ricky Rudd and how they just got their first win at Riverside Raceway the same weekend as this truck race.
I was at that race (Riverside Western 500) in 1983
How things change...and stay the same..
Crazy.
