No Chevy representation here! Notice how stock wheels were the majority back in the day?

Re: Vintage picture thread

This was my Dad's '61 Chevy. It was a company car he used as a sales representative for Lorillard Tobacco Company (back then called P. Lorillard Tobacco) and this picture was taken in August 1961! Ironically, I later had a '61 2-door sedan very much like this...until I started swapping out engines on a regular basis! LOL

Re: Vintage picture thread

This is a terrible picture! Probably taken in the "Snow Storm" of 1978, and I was living in Hawaii at the time, by my Mom. This was Dad's GMC and it was a nice truck. 307, 3 OTT, and it was perfect when he bought it as a used truck. I think it was only around 2 or 3 years old when he found it and brought it home one night!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

It's Black Bear Pass right here in Colorado, near Telluride... I think that pic is from an old Warn winch ad or something.

Re: Vintage picture thread

That photo of the square body with the jeep in it reminds me of a photo my uncle has of his 73 ford crew cab 4x4 hauling an allis chalmers "g" tractor (rear engine tractor with the same four cylinder flathead continental engine as dads lincoln welding machine- dad bought it to repair a backup welder but liked the little g too much to scavenge it!) in the bed. (It probably only weighed half what that jeep does. That looks sketchy.)

I work in Telluride and Black Bear is not that sketchy anymore. Still a little hairy in a few spots, but not like that!

Me, with my first car (...the red one...):

The Pontiac shown is a '63 Catalina; built as a Super Duty car, it was built with the aluminum front package (hood, fenders, bumper) and aluminum decklid. Sadly, this is the only still photo I have of this car.

Goin' racin' -

The '64 shown above was the first GTO in the twelves, at least here locally.

Our '64 on display at the Michigan State Fair, fall of 1964:

Typical Sunday afternoon:

Rain on raceday - Lapeer International Dragway, 1968:

Me, doing my first engine teardown (a '69 GMC straight six), while the GTO sleeps behind me:

Goin' racin again:

The '64 Lemans was a factory mule car, purchased from the GM Milford Proving Ground. It came equipped with a 421 cubic inch engine (and close ratio 4 speed) and was actually quicker than our '64 GTO race car.

Lastly, this is not a "vintage" shot, but it is a "vintage motif". Here's how the GTO looks today:

Man keth i stumbed on this post the picture of the rainny day at lapeer drag strip is cool i am a lot younger but i still go out there and watch the races cool seeing local places from my small town on here

Re: Vintage picture thread

The one that got away. My 1968 Z/28. Bought this for the princely sum of $1150 back in 1971. Flash forward to 1974, gas has shot from 23cents to 36cents, I convinced myself I needed something more economical to drive when I was in college. So I traded in for ..................wait for it...............a 73 Vega GT. They gave me $650 for my Z/28 in trade. What a bone head decision.

Since my '72 C20 build is on the back burner for now, I thought I would go through all the old pics we have. Seeing as my wife and I have become the default "Keepers Of The Old Pics" in our collective families, I think we'd like to share the automotive related ones in this cool thread......
This is Mom and me in March of '63 with our new to us '59 Bel Air......
