Those who have ordered custom back spacing wheels

I just recently bought a step side, 67, very clean truck. I am in the process of ordering wheels for it and have the opportunity to order any back spacing that i need. Being that its a stepside, 20x10's are tight but doable I know. My hard numbers from WMS to bedside is 7". I want to order a 5.5 BS in order to get the most lip I can , but I don't need it to be outside the fender well either. What are others ordering for back spacing on step side truck with 20x10's. And yes I have searched and the numbers are all over the place from 6-5. Just trying to get some opinions and experience on what has worked and what is trouble.

The truck is a 67 with 71-72 wider rear, and will eventually be bagged. Not laying frame, but bagged.

Thanks In advance

Re: Those who have ordered custom back spacing wheels

I don't have an answer for you but make sure its an actual 67 rear end and you don't get advice from someone with a 68-69 with the wider axle. If it was me and I order at a local business i'd put it in their court, tell them exactly what you want and have the stipulation you get to see them on the truck before you pay.

EDIT: read this Thread, guess its not 68 but a later year.

And these are the wheels I'm looking at. I've always liked the pro touring look on these ole trucks

Thanks, but as stated above, I've already confirmed the wider axle measurement So it is 71-72 width

Well I think you need to know how much room you have from the inside to out side of fender and go by a local tire & wheel place like Cooters in Easley. He can help you decide.
Oh, by the way your wheel choice is a knock off to what I offered you the other day.
You are not going to get much lip with those style of wheels no matter what the back spacing is. Pro touring wheels are not built that way that I have ever seen.

My wheels. SS camaro 4.75 bolt pattern to.

Your choice.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Your choice.

Andy, there is 12" total room in the fender well. Thanks for the wheel offer but OEM wheels do nothing for me on these trucks.

Re: Those who have ordered custom back spacing wheels

These are 20x8.5 (5.25"BS), stepside bed, 71-72 rearend.
REAL numbers from a real truck.
Those rear fenders on a stepside bed are so small compared to the fleetside beds.

10" wheels will be really tight.

Thanks keith. I've considered a 8.5 with just a fat tire on the rear just to make it easier, but what's the fun. Do you have any side pics of that truck? And does that truck have the wider rear end?

Under stand, I just wanted to show you the wheels before you ordered some. If you want we can mount them up to see how they fit so you will know about the sizes though if you want. You can see how much room you have left.
