jack stand dolly

knocked one of these together last week. Need to paint it electric orange so I dont go sliding across the shop.
damn casters aint cheap. They should hold 1200 lbs per stand. assuming my welds hold

the next 3 I'm going to move the wheels out more and trim off the part of the plate that will then stick out. Im not to worried about it but Id like a slightly wider wheelbase.

home depot casters where about $6 each x16. 2 4' angle iron and 2 4' square stock. Cost around $150 total. Should support over 4000lbs which willmove any car i have around the show without to much trouble.

Re: jack stand dolly

Not a bad idea but would buying them at harbor freight be about the same price without the work?

Re: jack stand dolly

heres my previous incarnation: they creak and groan with the rear end so I knew I needed something better for the frame buildup and future use.

Re: jack stand dolly

pffft. well i can admit to being wrong... I now see why nobody sells jack stand dollys. Lawsuit waiting to happen.
I made 3 more with the wheels more outboard but the stand the same size as the jack stand base.

even like this I had one tip over under my frame when pushing it around when the wheel caught on a piece of trash.

The only way I think to make this work would be to weld the jack stand to the dolly and make the dolly 2sqft at least.
next time...

Re: jack stand dolly

The thought is in the right place. I saw this product on Jay Leno's garage youtube channel. Pricey, but maybe you can reverse engineer it.
