Re: instrument clusters 73-80?

some call those "the unicorn" lol
some get lucky, find them in junkyards, and some pay "extra" for "AS-IS" on Ebay...
I had a neighbour find mine,he needed the later style,my lucky day.

77 i believe still had the tube oil pressure, amp gauge?
watch tho as they can not be swapped in without some wire "checking"

others shown here but I believe you want "no blue ring" style in 77

Re: instrument clusters 73-80?

I've been actively looking for a tach cluster as well. Im leaning towards the medium duty truck cluster... i want to run all the gauges along with the clock. And I've got 2 clock clusters so I just need a tach cluster now...

These things aren't getting any easier to find.

Ive got a pretty nice 1980 tach with electric oil gauage that I would want to trade for one that is the correct style for my 76.

Re: instrument clusters 73-80?

Sometime in 77 I believe is the changeover from mechanical to electric oil pressure.
Ammeter is 73-75 only.
My 76 was mechanical oil with volt gauge I moved to a 78 tach cluster after I swapped in the 6.5

I have sold a couple of these on Fleabay.
I don't sell non working tachs without noting the condition of the tach as NON WORKING. Many of the 75 and prior units don't work and the boards are potted so I'm not messing with them.

Anyone with a small amount of electronics knowledge can test and even repair one of these GM tachs with a frequency counter that will measure in the 10HZ-1KHZ range, an audio signal generator that will output 10HZ-1KHZ frequencies, a DC bench power supply of at least 20VDC at 5A, and a hobby electronics grade soldering station like the Weller WLC100.

Re: instrument clusters 73-80?

I really would like to find a cluster without the mech. oil gauge which all 77s came with . I would like to find someone who rebuilds these clusters using new parts like new housings and gauges .

thanks mike I like that tach if I use one of them I would have to find something to replace the fuel gauge in the left hand corner I know that's where a clock would go but I have never been a fan of the clock because I have never seen one work for long but I seen that they have a tach without the fuel gauge that I could go with.

Here's one on FleaBay Johnny:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1973-19...095bd0&vxp=mtr

Only 7 hours left, no bids.

Another:

One more, but kind of pricy:
