Talking second time around, here to stay

Hey all!

This'll be my second truck. My first was a 72 longbed I had in about 92-94. the PO took out the V8 and auto trans and dropped a straight 6 and 4 on the tree from a 1 ton. The fun started when the carrier bearing broke. they installed it on the front end of the rear driveshaft...

I picked up my current 70 on Sunday (5 days ago). I've been checking out the forum and am getting some good ideas. In the planning stages are 69 Camaro tank, 99 Ram seat, 16" steelies, 67 nose and tiding up the loose bits. Later comes more: 4L60 trans, 2"/4" drop, custom dash, suicide doors etc, etc

Yes, I plan on keeping the 6.

Interesting grill treatment. Welcome from NW Washington. Good luck with the project.

Re: second time around, here to stay

After about 2 years recovering from surgery, the need for the truck to be running is coming soon. I drove it around a few times but the trans was slipping, shifting hard. I found a place that will switch the turbo 350 with a 700r4. I was on my way down, not even out of my work's parking lot, I stopped for a second and blewie, no gears, fluid everywhere. The shop is about 30 miles away and I called my roadside assistance company, they wanted to tow it to a Chevy dealership 5 miles away because that's what's stipulated in the contract. I tried to explain the trans isn't going to be repaired, it's getting replaced and she tried to tell me they could only authorize the closest shop. I said the place I was going to was the closest place that will do the work I needed. After a couple times being put on hold they did come back with a wrecker that would take it there. They're going to do the work after hours and with luck it should be done Monday! They said the only issue will be there isn't 4 indents on the column so first won't have a slot. No biggie for now.

Re: second time around, here to stay

selling

Need something more reliable and I can't work on it like I want to because of ongoing post surgery pain.
Will get something in the future that doesn't need a ton of work that's closer to what I'm wanting.
