Not sure on a Blazer, but on the trucks the spring centers are 40" on 4x4 and 42.5" on 2x4. The rails are splayed and not straight.

Most obvious is 4x4 has leafs and 2wd has trailing arms and coils.

The 72 bed floor has the notch out on the rear cross member which leads me to believe that the frame angles up at the back, did the 71's come this way also?

the 69-714x4 frames and 70-71 2wd frames ended right behind the last body mount so the rear cross member didn't need to be cut out (the frame ended before the rear cross member) so the 72 was the only year that the bumper mounted directlly to the frame. panel's and subs' were the same way' I'm not sure about pickup's
