Bigdav160, wondering what the drama is all about. I have a liftgate that I'm wondering if it's worth restoring or replacing. Rusting through from the inside below the window glass.

Anybody have any tips on restoring the liftgate?

Drama? I didn't see any drama about this. I may have been wrong about it being pricey but that's it.

In a nutshell:

A member here, for a couple years, had been trying to persuade a fiberglass body parts maker (known for his Nissan Z car parts) to make a fiberglass hatch. Another member shipped a perfect hatch to him to make a mold.

The member was lining up orders and deposits when the panel maker chimed into the thread. Since he wasn't a paying member, the thread went poof. The panel maker thought he was doing the community a favor and got mad when he was told he would have to pay to sell here.

Those CL pics look like the same ones that were posted here in that thread as the prototype. That could be the only one.

My lift gate has gone through one bad repair. Thinking about stripping it and starting to T I G up some patches. I'll start a thread on the repair. Thinking about barn doors also.
