New guy...first post

Hi all,

New guy here and I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this project and from everyone on this forum. I just purchased a 1966 Suburban 4X4 as a "retirement" project! And yes, before anyone asks, I will post pictures as soon as possible. The first thing I did with the truck, however, was drop it off with the mechanic I use for some basic maintenance and a good checkout. I'm ordering some new wheels, and am unsure of the lug nut thread size so I can order the correct lug nuts. The hubs are 8 lug and I'm guessing the thread size is 7/16 x 20? Thanks for any help you can provide...I'm trying not to pester the mechanic with too many questions at this point so he can actually work!

Don't have a clue myself but I am sure someone will give you the info...just want to say welcome from a semi new to the site 65 panel guy using a couple of builds to ease me through retirement as well. I am just over in Riverside so were almost neighbors. jon

Most 8 lugs wheel studs are 9/16".

It must of been a convertion to 8 lug, all suburbans I've seen are 1/2 ton with 6 lugs.

I've seen 8 lug on some of the longer ones. That's why we need pics!

Being a 4x4, someone might have swapped in later model 3/4 or 1 ton axles that are 8 lug. If they are 1/2 ton 4x4 axles, then the stud would be 7/16".

Thanks everyone for your feedback...the truck is still at the shop so I haven't been able to check the thread size myself or post pics, but I will as soon as possible. Based on the VIN, it is a factory 4X4, but I don't know if anyone swapped axles.
