Re: Simulated bed wood
That's a great idea! Just added that to my list of mods for my wood bed.
Thanks.

Re: Simulated bed wood
I chose TREX as well. Used 10' lengths of fascia board for my LWB. Wide enough to do stock board sizes/spacing, and the exact same thickness as stock boards. Picked grey so it would look like old weathered wood. Sits outside in Canadian climate 365 days a year, and looks brand new. Cuts and drills like butter.

Re: Simulated bed wood
Did grooves myself. Ripping and grooves done on a radial arm saw. All the cuts were done in less than two hours. Needed a helper because the length.

Re: Simulated bed wood
Love to see more beds done like this, dad just put out a new door for the basement with synthetic wood and man does that stuff lol tuff, doors weigh almost a ton when he was done but you wont ever have to worry about them rotting away or getting weathered

Re: Simulated bed wood
Have a search for "Trex", there's a bunch of us over in 60-66 that have done it.

Re: Simulated bed wood
I used the profile dimensions for the board edges from GMC Paul. Use a stacking dado blade on a table saw and build a table to support the lengths and, yes get some help to keep them straight and flat against the table and rail. Might take 2 passes. They turn milled exactly like the originals or good replacement boards. Once I get some warm weather, I'll spray mine off and take some pictures. They look llike the day I installed them. My truck stays outside year round.

Re: Simulated bed wood
The actual factory spec. on the wood thickness is 0.81" very close to 13/16ths.
