Yeah I bought mine from the original owner and he had them done by a friend sometime in the early 80's.

i wish i could get one for my truck. seen one on ebay for $149. ill have to look in my local junkyard for one. anyone know if 81-87 tailgates(or the band itself will fit my 74?

I just made up 4 small tab's and rivet'd them to the Jimmy trim, drill'd small hole's in the tail gate them ran sheet metal scew's in em to secure it.
this tail gate has some damage, I have a new one for it and will install the handle relocater on befor I swap it out.

Ok 3 questions....
1- did anyone ever advise the proper procedure to polish the narrow bands out?
2- did anyone ever mill one of out aluminum yet?
3- could the band be sent off to be chrome plated?

I had a couple of dents in mine. Sanded it down using sanding sponges and taped of the edge and sprayed it black. Then pulled the tape off and used I believe a 1000 grit sanding sponge and polished the edges and cleared it all. After about a year and a half it is still holding up.
