Q-Jet Idle Stop Bracket

I need help identifying the idle stop solenoid bracket I need for my Q-Jet. I finally got my AC working in my GMC. However, I find myself in need of an idle stop solenoid now. No surprise there, I guess. My problem is the Q-Jet I have has a single screw bracket mount carb body, see reference picture attached. This is not my actual carb but my carb has the same body and top plate. I was wondering if anyone knows what the right bracket is for this application.

Thanks,

mike

As long as you have a first generation quadrajet, like the one you pictured, then this is what the bracket/solenoid looks like bolted on.

Next generation quadrajet has a different body and the solenoid bolts to the side on those ones.

The idle stop bracket has a slotted hole in it that goes onto that "lug" on the front of the carb, then it turns clockwise passing onto a lug on the side then aligns with the bolt boss on the front where it bolts down. It takes a unique counter-sunk screw; here's one installed, see how it goes over the lug on the front, locates on the lug on the side and has one screw holding it on.

Re: Q-Jet Idle Stop Bracket

George, I'll buy a bracket and solenoid, if you have one. Let me know.

Mechanicalman, thanks for the picture and description. I was not familiar with what I needed.

Thanks,

-mike

Re: Q-Jet Idle Stop Bracket

Go to the parts board on this site for 67-72's

Look for any number of threads by teeitup, and several others.

These guys have thousands of parts available (not an exaggeration).

Unless you're subscribed to the site, you can't post a Wanted To Buy thread, but I don't think it's wrong to ask one of these salvagers if they have what you're looking for in one of their threads.
