Re: Misfits garage 69 short bed build

Seems like now EVERYBODY builds hot rods and such. You can't swing a dead cat without some dude you've never heard of before is all of a sudden this well known car builder.

Remember not too long ago, the same was true about the chopper building shows. Sure, these shows can be considered entertainment but where did all these people come from?

I never even heard or Richard Rollins before this show.

I have read a lot of threads right here on this forum and some of you guys definitely deserve your own show! You guys are talented and what's more, you are honest and willing to help others out.

I think they should give an episode to each of you guys who are trying to enjoy your hobby while still trying to pay bills, pay for your kid's college, put groceries on the table and deal with the unexpected crap that happens every day called life!

Sorry, off my soapbox now...

Re: Misfits garage 69 short bed build

I watched both episodes as well. It appered to me that they didn't even bother to put the dome light lense on the inside of the cab... I noticed it and rewound it a couple times on the handy dandy dvr... It looked like it was missing but hard to tell. They say they didnt have many patch panels for the donor cab, you know what that means.... Mud mud and more mud! These shows give this hobby a bad image in my opinion. Like said above the talent on this board alone is far superior to what these guys turn out. On this note I will say that I have some respect for aaron. He seems to have a good idea what he's doing. Don't always agree with his style but mechanically he seems competent.

Did anyone else notice the rearend housing they were building for the truck? Didn't look right to me.
And... How much for the interior?

Re: Misfits garage 69 short bed build

They need to take the 'reality' and drama out of those shows and just stick to what 99% of the guys that watch them want to see.

I wonder how long before someone starts making reproduction 67-72 cabs? I think there'd be a good market if the price was right. Dynacorn is already making '47-'57 cabs, but at $9k a pop.

Re: Misfits garage 69 short bed build

That is one of the few car shows I won't watch. I will watch the three stooges and laugh; but these guys are just junk; not even funny at all, if that's what they're shooting for.

And it was probably one of the few things on the show NOT scripted. Why, Los Angeles loses lots of revenue because production companies cannot afford to shoot in the city. And shutting down a freeway for a stunt like that at mid day cannot be cheap. Permits up the gaazam! Maybe Texas does not care about what you do, and maybe in Texas you can just pull a Jack Ass stunt anywhere you please... but I doubt it.

Just painful trash to watch!

Might be some talent on that show, it escapes me just where it is though. 4 monkeys an a football if you think about it for a minute. what it isn't is car and truck building done right.

Heh, just a tour of the scrapyard would be better, but not the same as being there.
I think the cabs are available, but--I'll bet any good shop can do the repair for 1/3 the cost and w/o removing your VIN.
