Re: quadrajet. who....

I've seen Cliff Ruggles name (Cliff's Performance) appear on the forum many times. I have no personal experience with him however.

Ruggles is considered the Quadrajet Guru, but I've heard the lead time can be months.

Check with Mountain Man Carburetors. He does good work at a fair price.

Cliff is "the man". I had him rebush the primary shaft on my baseplate. I ordered his book and a rebuild kit, and did the rest myself. It came out great. I took a ton of photos on disassembly. Between those and his book, I had no problems. That is a good option if his wait times are as bad as I've heard (but that should tell you something about his skills), and you have some time.

Good luck, either way.

Re: quadrajet. who....

Unless your carb is trashed, bent or missing parts, it isn't that hard to rebuild. Get Cliffs book, follow it step by step, keeping everything organized and it is really pretty easy. Don't try any modifications and don't try to re-engineer it. His kits are also of superior quality where they need to be. They don't deteriorate (quickly) from the crap in todays fuel like many parts store kits. Yes, they cost a little more, but they include numerous parts that are not in parts store kits, like a new float, secondary spring and cam and thicker gaskets that can compensate for minor warping of the air horn.

If you are at all handy with tools and repairs, this is not beyond your expertise. Just stick to the basics.
