Project: Just get it "reliably" functional...

Hello ya'll! I've been a member for quite a while, though it's tough to tell just going by the amount of posts I have. Now it's time to add to my post count by starting my own build project. Teardown actually started many years ago but was a very slow process due to, honestly, my neglect.

Now, my lovely wife and I are looking to move somewhere with more green and water. On the list of preferred places are Colorado, Utah, Missouri and a few other states. Wherever we decide to go, I want the '67 driven there, not towed.

Also, the sooner we move, the better. My wife is a teacher and would prefer moving during the summer. I'd rather buy some land and temporarily live in our tiny house on wheels as I build our foundation house, as opposed to paying a mortgage on a house we don't really like.

But all that is just a side note and not really why I'm posting. This rebuild will be about functionality over presentability. Meaning it will not look pretty, but it will run reliably and safely. A thorough rebuild will take place once we have settled in at our new destination.

So on to the patient: a 1967 c10 that my dad gave me when I was 16. I was with him when he bought it somewhere in Missouri in '85. So I've had it for 19 years and it's been in the family for 30. It is my first vehicle and I'm not getting rid of it. Another side note: To repay my dad, I eventually bought him a 1968 CST c10 that he's currently rebuilding.

Posting the build here is mostly for my own record and to keep me on track but is also to make me a more active member and to socialize a bit. If you would like pics of anything or more info, just ask. Thanks to anyone who checks it out.

It may be hard to see but, in the last pic, the r/h bedside is smashed in. My wife's grandfather did that. He said he didn't see my truck, even though I had parked in the same spot on his property for a couple years. He never said sorry or offered to pay for it. I let it be 'cause I love my wife that much Oh well...just an opportunity to practice some sheetmetal work.

108*, huh? Scratch Arizona off the list Only joking...I've enjoyed my many visits to AZ. Luckily, the dry NM climate has kept the body in decent condition. Thanks for the encouragement and I really like that dually stepside

Thanks. Yeah, it's hot. No doubt about it. Lots of opportunity here though, unless you are a teacher from what I am hearing on the news.

I had swapped out the front steering components from hub-to-hub about a month ago. I did the '73-'87 change-a-roo but wanted to keep the 6 lug setup, so I ordered a pair of 6 lug rotors from CPP. They're a perfect fit.

I am figuring out the brake line setup. This is how it is so far, but I still need to clamp the front and rear lines together and out of the way to make sure there won't be any chafing anywhere.

I also started working on removing the bed so I can install a rear gas tank. I'm taking it out in pieces, since I have to repair the r/h bedside anyway. All the bed bolts and nuts are rusted, so I'm having to drill and punch the bolt heads off. So slowly but surely. Here's a general pic of the rear...

I found an hydroboost setup that will be installed on the '71, which means the '67 is getting the '71's brake booster. Here it is temp-installed...

I had a '95 LT1 block lying around for the past 7 years, so I a few months ago I rebuilt it. It will be going in the '67 along with a 4l60e. I'll be running it with the ECM.

great to see you start a build thread. You will be busy to get this done so you can move this summer. Good luck. Is that your house on wheels I see in the pics? If so that should be motivational to get a house and shop built.

Thanks, Dwight. That is our tiny house on wheels. I plan on building the garage/shop first and then move on to our foundation house. That way our vehicles, tools, and machines are stored away. My wife is looking forward to living in the tiny house...if only because I've made and effort to get rid of stuff I really didn't need. Plus, she's always wanted to live in a "Little house on the Prairie."
