What's the best way to remove primer without damaging paint underneath?
I tried sandpaper but that was scratching the paint underneath a little, maybe I just need a lighter grit. Then I tried a magic eraser and that worked really well and even took off the sand paper scratches but wàs really slow going and ate up the magic eraser pretty quick. I think those also have bleach in them which is prolly no good for paint. So I thought I just hop on and see what your guys opinions on primer removal are and if anyone has ever done this before.
Is there a special chemical that will remove the primer on top and not the paint underneath. Medium grit then light, what's the best way? |

Try a mild wash down reducer, but wipe on and off in the same step.( wet and dry wipes )

Clay might work if it's light over spray.

Me and my buddy are having really good luck getting the random primer off his original paint '75 with wet sanding using 2000 grit. Good luck !

try using a polishing compound , it won't harm the paint . It will make the spot look better then the other areas and end up doing the whole truck , lol
