Unhappy 71 C10 350 Edelbrock Carb Kickdown Cable

Looking for advise or information on connecting the Downshift cable (detent) to my new Edelbrock Carb Performer 1411.
The truck is a 71 C10 350 with a TH350 Automatic
I have installed an adapter plate (Edelbrock) to the original intake, and the new Carb when I noticed that the cables would not connect correctly. Doing some research I found that I either needed to make or buy a bracket to hold the cables in the correct position.
What I found was Edelbrock 8036 Chevy Throttle Bracket, looks like it would work for the throttle cable, detent cable and a mount so I could add cruise control in the future. I installed the bracket. the throttle cable works good, still need to find a return spring and mount it, original will not work. The Transmission Down Shift Cable (Detent) will not hook up to the Edelbrock, the cable seems to be to short. I have adjusted the Mount Bracket(trans Downshift) all the way forward and it still will not fit. My guess is the Performer Carb Cable mount on the side of the Carb is in a different than the Q-Jet. Hard to believe there is not a solution for this issue, I cant be the only one with this problem. I feel Edelbrock should have mounting hardware that you could buy vehicle specific, like a kit, or inform the purchaser that this carburetor will not work with out modification of brackets, springs, fuel lines, choke connections, Throttle & transmission kick down cables .
I'm thinking I should have stayed with Q-Jet any suggestions on how to make this work?
