Painting 1970 headlight buckets black

I understand the headlight buckets/surrounds on my 70 should be black. I have seen pictures of these but not in person.

They feel like they are made of aluminum. I wanted to ask what finish is correct (satin, gloss, etc) and not knowing what kind of metal it is, how do I prep it?

They are supposed to be steel but are not reproduced, so aluminum is the only new replacement. I use Plasti-Coat low gloss black engine enamel

I should say, that "low gloss" is a satin. Looks like above. But that engine enamel is tough and I wanted to give an exact can to grab. I get it at Advance Auto.

I've done some aluminum ones and I media blast them first
