Rear end swap question. (Help please)

Ok I have a 2000 Silverado with a 3:42 posi 2wd. I found a (GT5 G80) 4:10 posi out of a 2001 Tahoe 4wd. I was told by a buddy of mine with a huge junk yard that there is no difference in the 2wd-4wd rear ends like it was in the 88-98. Now is this a direct bolt in or not. Thanks for any of your help.

Thanks, PT

Re: Rear end swap question. (Help please)

There isn't a difference between 2wd and 4wd, but there is a big difference between pick-up and Tahoe.

The pick up uses leaf springs.

The Tahoe uses a 4 link with a track bar/panhard bar

All the mounts/spring perches/shock mounts will be different between the axles.

Re: Rear end swap question. (Help please)

After laying under my wife's Tahoe when she got home and looking at hers I figured out they were a lot different. You could make a Tahoe work in a truck but it would be a ton of work to do so.

Thanks for your reply PT.
