A new 71 Cheyenne SB fleet side

Trailered from south of Atlanta to Nashville, Thursday a week ago. Poured down rain and I managed to keep the truck completely dry until it was safe in the garage at home. California car cover, two tarps, and shrink wrap. Plastic under the bottom of the truck strapped down to the trailer.

Re: A new 71 Cheyenne SB fleet side

The gentlemen I bought it from told me it was a new 1971 Cheyenne. I was skeptical but after inspecting the truck for more than an hour and then test driving the truck I bought it. Now that I've had it home for more than a week and spent a lot of time going over, under, and through the truck; he told the truth. It literally is a brand new truck. It was not debugged when finished so there is a short list of things to attend to but I'm happy I bought this one. Strictly a show truck. It was finished in 2008, won the Super Chevy Show in Atlanta in its class that year, and Best in Class 2010 World of Wheels in Atlanta. It had a whopping 116 miles on it when I test drove it. Feeling blessed and wanted to share some of the pictures.

Re: A new 71 Cheyenne SB fleet side

There are many gorgeous trucks on this site. I almost made a trip to AZ earlier this year to buy "Rods" 71 GMC short bed. I wanted it bad but missed the opportunity. I've known about this truck for about three years but always thought I couldn't or wouldn't afford to buy it. Timing and prices change if you're patient. Keep digging through craigslist and local ads, you never know when a great deal will come along:-)

Re: A new 71 Cheyenne SB fleet side

Thanks Joe and Jerry. I have not found one thing on the truck that has not been rebuilt, replaced, or renewed. Its not 100% NOS, it does have some LMC and Brothers bit and pieces. The cluster is an LMC cluster, the TAC doesn't work and the temp gauge is inop. I pulled the cluster and put my spare in. The tach in my spare works but the temp gauge is still not working so its probably the sending unit. I had some screwy tail light problems, grounding the bed to the frame fixed that.

Re: A new 71 Cheyenne SB fleet side

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I realize that I cheated by buying one already restored but I just couldn't pass it up. I do have hard copy pictures of the restoration, the builder is supposed to be sending me those in soft copy as well.

Very nice truck I don't think I've ever seen a cleaner truck underneath..There's nothing wrong with buying one already done, I think a lot of us would buy one already done if we could afford to, but then there's the satisfaction of working on it yourself... I don't think they ever get done...

Re: A new 71 Cheyenne SB fleet side

At first I thought the wrapping was overkill but, after looking at the pictures I can see why. That is such a clean truck. Beautiful!
