1967 engine fan?

I have replaced the engine in my 67 from a 327 to a 350 and the 327 had a short water pump and the 350 has a long water pump. Looking for info about a good aftermarket fan and if I still need a small spacer? thanks Rick

If by aluminum fan you are referring to a flex fan, I would urge you to reconsider. Flex fans -- even when they are not exploding -- simply do not cool effectively. Just my two cents, YMMV.

Re: 1967 engine fan?

I used a metal one when I had the factory setup with a standard clutch. I had to switch to a reverse spinning fan for the serp system and it was metal with clutch. I just put on dual electrics when I put on my aluminum radiator.

Re: 1967 engine fan?

If you are switching from a short pump to a long pump engine, the fan may be the least of your worries. Does your 327 have a fan? Does it have correct pulleys for the original setup? A long pump will probably need a different pulley set. If you have pulleys and fan, why not just transfer the short pump or buy a new/rebuilt short pump?

Re: 1967 engine fan?

OEM-type thermal clutch fan. Locks up to provide more cooling when needed, then partially disengages to reduce noise & parasitic power loss when cooling is not needed.

http://www.aa1car.com/library/cooling_fan_clutch.htm <---- Link to troubleshoot a bad fan clutch, but it also has basic info about what a fan clutch is and how it works.

Re: 1967 engine fan?

if I remember OEM style clutch fans for the long water pumps come with the spacer , also in some applications you have to move the radiator to the 6 cylinder position on the rad support , do not know if that would apply with your truck.

On another note just curious why the swap on that SJ 327

Re: 1967 engine fan?

Just use the short water pump and original pulleys from the 327 on the 350. That way all your stock brackets and pulleys will line up correctly.

They are all interchangeable.
