Pic, you probably know what it is.

Came across this pic and thought it was pretty neat. It's some kind of special edition C10. I've seen one of these trucks on here before but I'm mainly a 60-66 guy and I can't recall the details. Perhaps someone can fill in the details. Anyway, enjoy 67-72 guys. Hope it's not a repeat.

It looks like you may be partially right. There appears to be a feathers Blazer in the background.

Re: Pic, you probably know what it is.

I think those decals were a dealer-installed item. I've never seen that pattern. It could have been a one-off for the car show. The feathers were more popular.
There's a van in the background behind the Vega that has some stickers as well.

Re: Pic, you probably know what it is.

That would be pretty gutsy to buy a new truck with those decals. I would think it wouldn't be long before you would get tired of looking at it every time you walked to the truck..

It would be like driving a billboard around. Neat for shows but that's all.

It's ironic that the "1776" edition (the most patriotic theme available) was not available to dealers in Washington DC

Re: Pic, you probably know what it is.

I forget what show that is in '72, Detroit? But Chevy is showcasing the Mod Bod graphics sold as part of the accessory program. That Van, El Camino, and Vega Camback are sporting the graphics as well. Doesn't look like the brown Van or suburban have them. Custom graphics paint jobs had be coming on and this was Chevy's response to that. Or moore like reponse to Mopar using bold graphics. It was the beginning of the vinyl performance era of the '70s. Not so favorable today, and never were my taste, any sticker graphics. Mopar went big with that back then and I never liked that, either. I guess it all started with rallye stripes and went from there. Those 340 Cudas had to be the ugliest things ever, IMO. But these days a mint one of those is worth crazy money. Still gross if you ask me, especially with a vinyl top? Is it a race car or luxury? Make up your mind or just try being subtle and tasteful like GM:

Yeah, what's up with that? The didn't want the Kennedys putting these schemes on their Chappaquiddickmobiles or what? That's so weird, I'd love to know the back story behind that decision.

Where are all the retired GM VPs when you need them?
