Re: Speaking of SPIDS

I think Chip should let the ink run out a little, it looks "too good". Maybe if your truck has a build date of the second day of production, but most look a little more ragged. Hard to complain about too good though.

The font is dang close indeed, though the color is a little brighter (would have to compare to a non-weathered one).

I always figured if I had one made I'd list all my "owner added" options with a * but can't think of a non-weird way to disclaim it. Probably "* AT 2014 RESTORATION" or something. Because like Leddzepp above I want one but won't put it on the glovebox, and don't want the next goober to own my truck (if there is one) to claim anything not true of the original build.

Since I have the build sheet there's not much debate as to how it was built.

Re: Speaking of SPIDS

I had Jeff do my SPIDEXACTLY as it came from the factory... my truck is anything but the way it came from the factory...

That's the most criticism I have received on this site from anyone in the over 10 years I have been doing the labels. I guess I will have to find a new 49 year old label to compare it with and adjust.
I think I will take that as a compliment.

Ok... As Promised Here is the original SPID as well as The One Jeff made for me... The Font is DEAD ON TARGET... This is a EXACT reproduction of the original...
Thanks for the kind words Dan, it was a pleasure working with you. Always fun working with people who understand and are in to detail. Proud to be a small part of your build.

You're safe to take "too good" as a compliment :-)

Now maybe a strong UV light and a humidor...

Actually the pics are a little deceiving... if my old SPID were clean like the new one the fonts would probably be spot on... I can honestly say that I would bet that a Concourse de Elengance judge would see the repro as original...

That's the thing... unless you were doing a Concours show, nobody's ever gonna see that SPID label. And even then, I doubt they would notice.
I do my fair share of shows every year (anywhere from 90-100) and I'm the only one that opens that glove box.
This is NOT a knock on Chipflyer... he does AWESOME work!

LOL... I f you were to reach in to open my glove box door you would probably be surprised when the barrel of my gun was stuck to the back of your head... LOL

I'm not sure I total agree with that, how many times through the years on this site (or others) have you seen a very nice truck for sale with a missing SPID or one that has numerous mistakes and just looks bad? It usually gets picked apart with 3 pages of negative comments and undoubtedly losses more money than what a properly done label would have cost.

You are right through, some won't notice or care and that's fine. I'm sure that if you had a label lying out for people to look at while at a show that more than one "expert" in the crowd would notice and make a comment (right or wrong) about the label.
