What Dana 44 was in the 72 K10?
I need to replace the ball joints on my 72 K10. It's a Dana 44 front axle. I went to buy Moog ball joints from Summit, but the only ones they carry for a 72 K10 are listed as for "the 3500 lb axle only".
Does anyone know offhand which D44 was stock in the 1/2 ton trucks?

Should be the same ball joints in the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton D44. They both have the same knuckles and "C".

Thanks guys. I ordered 'em up and I guess if they don't fit, I'll find something that does! Was a little leery of the NAPA house brand - there are three non-greaseable ball joints in the truck right now, and one aftermarket greaseable one, and that odd one is the one that's the worst. Probably the newest, definitely the worst worn. So I figure the quality ones are the way to go...

Greasable joints need constant maintenance or they wear quickly.
I tend to go for the non greasable. YMMV

Sounds like too much info in the listing making things complicated. You'll be right on the parts. I'm sure if they looked they would find there is no other weight class axle offered in Dana44, only one type of ball-joint used across the board.
NAPA offers Precision brand for an upgrade, which I use and am very happy with the quality.

I think you're right, Tim, too much info. But I knew of the Dana 44 "HD" and didn't know if that was a different weight class or something.
The asian-made Napa ones were more expensive than the US-made Moog ones! So I went for Moog, which I wanted to do anyway.

Moog is the best, and like others said, ball joints should all be the same
