Best place to make mates I have ever found. My closest friend I met on here and we only live 6 miles from each other in the same town.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well two updates .

First of all as some of you know I have had a change in my circumstances . After returning from my road trip in October. I had a long discussion with Amanda and we decided to call it a day . That's why some of you may have noticed the considerable lack of truck time . Well last weekend , Amanda and her son Michael moved out , and took her two Staffordshire bull terriers with her . I will probably have to work till I am 70 to pay back the mortgage I needed to pay Amanda off .

One of the reasons I wanted to stay where I am is it's quiet peaceful well when I'm not making a noise anyway , and with this on my door step to walk my dog Bow and the Labrador Max that was Michael's dog left behind to keep Bow company.

Well I would also like to thank Rian for helping me the last two weekends . His help has also prevented him from getting on with his truck .

Last Sunday he helped me in the house with some DIY . I think this was a great shot and worthy of a caption

Now onto the important stuff back on the truck well the auto box is ready to go back onto the engine , but first of all I had to remove a broken stud .

The broken stud

Next I managed to get a nut to stay on the last threads

I then welded the middle up

Then I just used a spanner to undo it

The engine is now ready for the box to be refitted.

This weekend I have to sort out my Mercedes getting a new MOT as I have a buyer for it . This will enable me to carry working and getting the parts to finish the truck . I call it prioritising some may call it madness .

MERCEDES?
Is the new owner a hairdresser?
(only joking, wish I'd known you were selling, I actually rather like it and would have been very tempted)

theres a really good side to this… sell hairdresser car, buy truck parts... inherit really cool dogs, get rid of fufu dogs… stay in the shop you got, build an engine on the kitchen table… you got your job, and you're damn good at it… sometimes, freedom is good

rock on bro.

Martin, too bad about your situation, but there's no point staying together if both parties aren't into the relationship. Better to separate and be happy. Unfortunately, that usually includes a hefty financial penalty. Good luck, and all the best!

It does kinda sound like Clem is on to something...

Hi Martin, as they say, "love is grand, separation is a hundred grand".

I agree entirely with Clem sell the hair dressers car, buy truck parts sounds good to me. Pleased you've turned the corner, things will get better form now.

Thanks Clem as always you tell it as it is . I don't know about building the engine on the Kitchen table , but the Harley may end up in the conservatory in the winter

You are correct about the financial penalty. It's better to be skint and happy

Very true Ian

As far as selling the car to by parts that's the plan

During my work schedule today I managed too call in at the Sandblaster for a quote on getting the cab Sandblasted and then primed, £250 . I think I may be getting it done
Well tonight I met pete he came up from Brighton to collect my old gas tank . It was great to meet another guy from the forum this is his build

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=704658

As for selling the Mercedes to get more truck parts , my younger brother is sailing to the USA on his boat . Now is there room to bring back parts . I reckon he can tie the mouldings to the mast , it's just convincing him of that

Thanks Colin he is at the moment going around France then Portugal and it's going to take him at least a year, as he will go via the Caribbean . He sails for two or three weeks at a time . He then flies home to run his business and check everything is ok at home . He has a very understanding wife .

Thanks Rian

Well when I got home tonight I got a little truck time in . My next door neighbour Trevor came around and gave me a hand . First we fitted new seals ( thanks Ian Brown )

Then the flex plate was fitted . The box was then fitted into place so at long last the truck is back on track .

With the Mercedes Passing the MOT . The new owner all being well is planing to collect it at the end of the month . So all being well I plan to get the cab down to the Sandblasters to be blasted and primed . So at long last the truck is back on track .

Sunday I plan on going to Rian's to give him a hand with his truck .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Thanks to Mr Grumpy for coming over today to bring my treasures and also to help me tie up the front end of my truck.

One thing to share is this little bit of genius Martin employs every day in his day job.

Marking both where he has been (his marking colour is Yellow) and where he has completed a job, he paints the nuts and bolts on their ends to show they were checked and completed.

In the case of my truck, I got some red nail varnish from Nicola to mark up all the nuts and bolts, plus split pins I have previously tied down and the rest we did today.

Ohhh, and it looks Purdy.

Thank you for the guidance mate.
