I voted dealer added but I've also seen aftermarket ones too. Definately not a factory installed option IMO.

Okay, I change my vote. I thought you were asking a generic question and replyed before pic was available. Pic looks aftermarket, the dealer ones were underdash units

when your eating, wipe your hands
BLOW YOUR NOSE!
clean off your shoe if u went thru mud
wifes water breaks ??!!!!???
clean up after.... "that" !!!???!!!!
if somebody asks if you have a tissue, you do

hmm dont feel like thinking of any more... but there ya go some reasons to have tissue in your truck

I have that same tissue dispenser. I mounter it horizontally right under the heater controls so the Chevy bowtie is visable to the front. I have always figured it was 73+ vintage but have never felt like researching it. I did get it in a box of misc parts which were NOS 70-72/truck.

There was this strange looking wire thing hanging from the inside roof of my '72, I had no clue what it was. It looked like a TV antennea.

Somebody told me today that it is a holder for your cowboy hat. It holds the hat upside down against the roof.

Makes sense, I guess...but I have never seen one before.

There is a GM optioned tissue dispenser but I don't think it was available on our trucks it was on the cars, my cousin has one on his 66 Impala and it is mounted under the glove box and turns out like around a single hinge. Atleast I was told that it is a factory option.

The books don't show one for 67 - 72, but they were in fact an assembly line option in other vehicles, but I have never seen one like what is pictured, just the chrome and black under dash units.

I have seen them offered as a dealer option on almost any GM vehicle. Two years ago at the Hot August Nights swap meet, there was a guy there that had cases of original ones. His price was cheep but I passed. I'll just blow it out the window plugging one nostril.....Farmer style I guess. Good thing to do when some ahole is tailgating you at about 70 MPH. Especially if they are on one of those crotch rocket motorcycles. My cousin has one installed (original he says) on his 64 Impala. Back in the day when these trucks were new, they were used for work mostly. The farmers and construction workers probably just used their sleeve or wiped it on the seat.

You don't come to Texas often do ya? Those are very common here. The brim of the hat is shaped by using steam. If you lay the hat flat on the brim, it will loose it's shape. The wire hat rack gives you a safe place to put your hat so you don't have to lay it on the seat...

juju,

Not all trucks were purchased for commercial/farm use. Many trucks were marketed to the RV camper market, hence the "Custom Camper" trucks. I'd be willing to bet more than a few of these recreational trucks were equipped with tissue dispensers, for the very reason you mention. Having your wife along requires gentler manners. Its just logical...
