key switch

i'm getting power to the key switch but noting is showing in the gauge. and when I turn to run it all power goes off. I'm testing it with a light. power source even goes off. what can it be thanks

Check your battery terminals... Loose, corroded, etc...

your right it started at the battery. I took it at auto zone and they said it need to be charged. I did and noting. so I got another battery and bingo it's running right now. thanks a lot

Glad you got it checked. For future reference, putting a voltmeter (or a voltage gauge in a vehicle) is useful, but it only tells you the state of charge. A battery can read 12.65v (a fully charged battery) but it isn't until you try to use the current that you find out the battery condition.

A proper load test of a battery is to load it to half of its CCA for 15 seconds..... 2 times! It should not fall beneath I think it's 9.6v at the end of the tests.

Most people don't load test a battery 2 times like that, myself included, but I think it's important to know.
