anyone running a PTO winch?

since I am swapping in a NP205 transfer case, I was wondering if anyone has a PTO running a winch. I just saw this on ebay and it piqued my interest. also, how do you route the driveshaft? thanks

Yup, that does tend to be the main problem. If you're all stock there should be a way. If you now have headers or something in that space, well....

I've seen a few and they're cool from a novelty standpoint, but I wouldn't want one.

You could run a hyd pump off of it and solve the driveshaft problems with a hydraulic winch. You can't get around the problem of it being driven off of the transmission output though, so you can't help yourself with wheel power when using the winch. That is the deal breaker for me, that, and pto winches are painfully slow.

Would be cool for a flatbed winch, though.

The auction is for a NP205 PTO...but you are saying that you have to put the transfer case in neutral to run the PTO? How would that work? I'd think that you would leave the transfer in gear and use the PTO.

Anyway, I would consider getting one just to have in case of emergencies. I don't do any rockcrawling because the only rocks in Ohio are the gravel bits in my driveway. Plus it looks like you could put one together for not that much money, which is something that I like.
