I see so many of these trucks with and without vent windows, were they an option, or have they just been converted to one piece glass? I love how they look with one piece, someone help me out!!!

I am pretty sure that they all came with vent windows. I know many have gone with the 1 piece because the conversion is much cheaper than the price of the new 2 seperate pieces. I agree, it does look very nice on some trucks but looks more modern. I think I will stick with the vent windows for my "old school" custom.

If anyone is going to this one piece conversion, I would be interested in the stock windows if the glass is nice.

They are stock with the vents.
The 1 pc glass is a conversion.
It's a tricky conversion because of the forward slant of the glass.
Some of the eariler conversion kits had a piece og metal to make the front edge of the glass vertical.
That type IMHO looks like crap.
The ones shown by BT above are much nicer

I purchased the kit from Brothers for the conversion, will post photos when I do the job.

The 55-9 1pc kit is great for a custom truck but not the look you want for a restored stock truck. We sell them in clear or tinted glass for under 350.00 shipping included. We also have new vent window chrome frames and complete vent window assemblies for 55-59.

Oh, Also the FCGI57T.
Does the hinge kit slide forward too or do the fenders need split like the FCGI57PT?
What is the quality of this fiberglass and how does it hold up?
Are the inner fenders attached to this unit or ???

Sorry no pics on the glass kit, it is a Brothers kit like the pics above. The non split tilt can be made to slide forward before tilting by using a tubing in a tubing slide setup with clevis pins to lock it in place. The pre split tilt tilts without any modifications to the hinges. The street versions hold up very well for daily drivers, the race version is a liftoff and made for off road racing only. No inner fenders attach to the front ends and must be fabbed to the frame and firewall, we use round tubing and aluminum panels with clevis pins for quick removal. Pics can be seen at www.usbody.com

i got a 62 and am converting to single glass i have ran into a problem with the front post being slanted how do the kits fix this? the only solution ive come up with is to run the front channel straight having it show about a quarter inch im not to fond of this though any way to hide it?

We did a 62 about 4 years ago and used 67-72 channel and a spring to pull the window forward as it rolled up. It was not a kit you could buy so we made templates out of 1/4" plywood until we got it right then sent them to a glass shop.
