My new H.Duty air cleaner assembly
.....so, I have been working on a new air cleaner assembly system that utilizes a 'stacked' approach to feed air and filter it.
It works pretty well, but I'm at the stage where I'm going to have to be cutting through the hood....particularly with the stock (4"?) air cleaner spacer (not shown here) I'm currently just mocking it up on the bench in the workshop...check it out.  all good Coley  lol....bit of morning fun.

I ran a set up like that for years. It worked great and raised my fuel mileage up to 25mpg. The bad thing was I had to reinforce my oil pan. It kept blowing it off. Lol

If you reverse the lid on the top one you'll get even better air flow - probably good for an extra 25 to 50 horsepower.

...yeah, tuning is everything on those quadrajets.
I was originally planning on using progressively smaller and smaller diameter air cleaners...starting with some big block ones on the bottom, then the small block 4 bbl's,...then the 2 bbls, then culminating in a single bbl one at the top to allow for the 'pyramid' tuning technique that smokey (robinson) yunick used to do....but I ran out of the 1/4"-20nc ready rod to hold them all down....I couldn't get it in a 3ft length at the time. I think you should keep the stack but mount all the snorkels vertically up through the hood and use those little cone filters.
Custom block huh' is that one measured it cubic inches or cubic feet? Ps, you might not have spark because there's is way too many spark arrestors.

Engine masters did a show on testing different air cleaner setups. Definitely worth a watch. Don't think it's up on youtube yet, but should be soon.
