'81 grill recomendations

Ive been looking at grills, '81 chrome, as much like the original chrome silverado grill as possible

Rock auto has them chrome- says various brands, $73 shipped Picture shows the Chevy emblem in the middle, but I don't think any come with the bowtie emblem do they?

I still have my original chrome grill with gold/yellow bow tie, its all cracked and chrome peeling off

Ive been looking at- Truck Shop, LMC, Brothers(no chrome)

Any recommendations of good ones or bad ones

I saw one that only the center strip was chrome-No dont want that or grey

I read, stay away from ebay grills..???

Recommendations?

.

Re: '81 grill recomendations

I thought LMC was the only one licensed to sell bowtie emblem grills....at least at one time

LMC, this is the grille your looking for. It is a GM Authorized Restoration part. It will be just like the original. It comes in CHROME and you can also get a Bow tie.

I bought this one, including the emblem. it is VERY nice for an aftermarket piece. I would definitely recommend.

They are VERY nice indeed. Although aftermarket, the key words are:

"GM AUTHORIZED RESTORATION PART"

These are manufactured just like the originals.

Good to Know Thanks ,

I'm not sure of the quality of some of the after market grills from certain venders.

That LMC Price is about equal to some other vendors

Re: '81 grill recomendations

I wish these were available before I bought my billet grille, I would have bought the original style first.

Re: '81 grill recomendations

I mind getting a billet type grill if I knew of a nice inexpensive one to replace my cracked and pealing chrome original grill that is held in with paracord tied.

I want a new factory style though also

If you want to get a billet grille, I got one from amazon for about 70$ if I remember correctly. I have had mine on for over a year and it has held up great so far.

Anyone know about this Grill? Maybe a OEM picture not representing what they are really selling?

I looked at it and read the reviews. Just about everyone wrote the grille they got, wasn't the one in the pic. There is no place for the emblem and you don't get the headlight buckets.
You can't go wrong with the one from LMC. It is a GM Authorized Restoration part, so IT WILL be just like the original. I have purchased some of the other years, they also state GM Restoration Part, and they are just like the originals.

Re: '81 grill recomendations

To be honest if you want an oem style quality 81-82 grille buy the LMC grille. If you don't mind not having the emblem or perfect fit buy any of the other ones.
