Re: It’s a hot one today...
Yikes! That’s highly unusual. Sounds miserable. I’m in TX right now and it’s 95-deg, but humidity is only 40% so it doesn’t feel that bad.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
That's nasty. I remembered something from yesterday. We went to a rib place for lunch on the way home from the gun range. The AC had quit. Those poor guys in the kitchen must have been dying from the heat. It's probably like working in the engine room of a Navy ship, standing next to a main feed pump.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
It's only supposed to hit 99 degrees here today. Could be worse. It could be raining.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Went camping for the last two days. I'll get a pic or two up soon. It was hot, only about 91º in the shade, and the AC in the trailer didn't work. No electrical did. It turned out to be the jack at the end of the power cord from the hookup supply. My wife and I tied a piece of cloth she had from a quilt she is making, to hold the cord in the right position to make contact and run the AC. Neither my wife or her mother can take that kind of heat at all, and I'm getting there, myself.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Weather tends to be unpredictable nowadays, but I must say that it is indeed hot. My Pomeranian goes back and forth on his drinkwell to ease his thirst.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
OK, I'm going back 35 years, when I worked as a mechanic. It would be 107º in the shop, and I'd be under the hood revving the engine while doing an AC system recharge. I could feel my lips blistering, and have to back out from under the hood to cool off before diving back in. I'd go to a party, and if the coals had a layer of ash on them, I could move them around to distribute the heat with bare fingers. I could crack (hot, cooked) crab legs barehanded. Crazy, I know. Now, I have to have mitts and tongs to turn the chicken over on the grill! The older I get, the better I was.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Luckily I was in Idaho during the crazy heat wave that came through, my old man took a picture of this while sitting on the 215 in San Bernardino.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Well it finally caught up with us. Carport says 101, Tacoma says 106. All I know is it's too darn hot for this old ex-PNW boy. Thank goodness we at least have a swamp cooler.
When it would get this bad 40 years ago, we loaded our two little boys into the crappy old Plymouth Duster (it had A/C) and went for a drive.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Wow, that is hot for your neck of the woods by a lot. It's been tolerable around here as much as miserable, back and forth. We have had a couple few low humidity spells and even cooler weather. Then we've had terribly muggy and hot for days on end. I'm working my way through it, but am worthless once I get home... shower or not. Thursday is mowing night and that grass is waiting tonight!

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Not even the mountains can save us today. It's supposed to be over 90* in Truckee today

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Was thinking about a Portola trip Friday. No way I'm climbing on trains in 90+ temps. Hope you start cooling down a bit.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
We had a good shower yesterday and again today with clouds and temps in the 80s. Man, it feels good for a change. Big heat comes back friday and weekend. Dog days indeed.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
I just got back from the mountains...It was about 90 in Truckee. Not bad when you have a river to jump in to. Only 99 today in Oroville. I'm at the mercy of the hot weather for the rest of the summer because I'm coaching football and the season starts Monday.

Re: It’s a hot one today...
Poor kids suiting up in such heat. Water water water.
Talk about water. We had an unusual day yesterday. We had been having upper 80s with dry for East Coast weather, then by morning it was muggy. But it stayed cooler till about 9 when it started raining. It stayed in the 70s and rained steady all day and well into the night. It never does that in summer. It's like a tropical storm but it's not. It rained hard a lot of the time. My rain gauge is 6" and it was full. Never seen that before. I have a straight sided 5 gal bucket outside sitting level and it has 8" of water in it. No watering the flowers today!

Re: It’s a hot one today...
We have been in the low to mid 90's in South Florida lately with 110% humidity.. Well, at least it feels that way..
Where are the cool spots in the country? I want to hear about some 50's and 60's

Re: It’s a hot one today...
One hot summer it came to vacation time and it seemed too hot to enjoy anywhere good. I like the Outer Banks, but I work in the sun all day and the beach just didn't sound good for once. A friend had moved up to Cape Cod and had been telling me to come up, so we decided to head up there. Perfect! It was overcast and cool. Drizzled off and on, and the best part is they average temp in July was like 70. And that's not hot all day and cool at night. That's 70-75 all day and 65-70 at night. We were tent camping and had our bicycles, it was perfect. The place is riddled with bike paths and it was just what the doctor ordered. We had a good bit of sun, too, but never hot or uncomfortably humid. I guess Maine would also be nice.
