Just bought a 68 C10 project truck

Hello guys,

My name is Olen and I just bought a 1968 C10 project. Someone started a restoration 10 years ago and then stopped after paint and put it on the side of the house to rot. I found it sitting and got it for a good deal. I’ll be doing everything to it and very excited.

Does anyone know how I can find out the original color of this truck? I’d like to paint it the factory color / combo. There is no build codes inside the glove box. Thank you!

As far as I know, without the glove box label, there's not a likely way to fond out...unless you can find a spot on your pickup somewhere that didn't get painted.
Hope you can give us some pictures!!!

Here are two pictures. I think it may have been baby blue, but not sure. Wish I could find dealer records or something.

Looks like a good project, maybe remove a door panel and look for original color. Good luck and keep us posted!

Might shine a flashlight under the seat to see of there is a build sheet trapped between the seat springs and cushion, that will have all the info that was in the glovebox as well - IF it's the original seat - you will know by comparing the VIN on it the metal tag on the truck. Speaking of which, curious what your VIN is? Truck looks to have a 69-72 hood on it, rather than a 66-68.

Unfortunately, there is no seat. I ran the vin and checked the drivers side frame rail. It is a true 68. Yes, it has 69-72 fenders and good with a 68 grill. I don’t think the guy knew that before sending it to paint. I’m currently search for the correct sheet metal.

You might want to go with ‘67 fenders since the marker lights are gone on the bed.

Good news is it has already been converted to 5 lug wheels all around. Power steering and brakes too?
