67 chevy truck w/ camaro grill *NEW PIC!!!*

We've all seen the old photo floating around on the web and on here;

Well, I picked up a mag yesterday... kinda bein a smart ass. I was gettin a replacement fuel cap for the burb at advance auto of all places, and the guy was takin a personal call instead of helpin the customers, and I saw a muscle car mag, so i picked it up and started flippin through the pages. (there was a 69 Cougar on the cover, and a Yenko shootout inside... grabbed my attention)
Well, like every other mag out there, they were doin a tribute to the camaro, and they were featuring a one off model that GM screwed together. In that article, they showed a page from the September 1967 issue of Hot Rod.. and you'll never guess what was on that page;

So for once in my life, my smart ass impatient attitude, got me something I would not have purchaced if i would have been cool and calm.
Whats the odds?

Anyways... I KNEW you guys would like the improved pic... Enjoy!

Re: 67 chevy truck w/ camao grill *NEW PIC!!!*

Thanks Andy! I just went bought one! The article says "Believing in putting its best foot forward, Chevrolet outdoes itself with restyled show versions of an experimental coupe, the popular Camaro and a pickup - all of which may be a preview of future designs". The only other mention of the truck states..."First there's a mildly restyled "Golden Cameo" pickup with SS'ed egg crate grille, deep pile interior where you sink into the super luxurious black vinyl buckets and a padded, simulated leather top already."

Man, I wish that truck had made production! I think I may have found my next project when I'm done with my phantom dually. I would really, really like to build a phantom SS '67!!!

Re: 67 chevy truck w/ camao grill *NEW PIC!!!*

I would love see an up close pic of the hood. You can tell it has the finned SS Camaro hood escutcheons, but you can't tell if the hood is raised around them like it is on the Camaro.

Maybe skip the leather top, or as I like to call them "Rust Covers."

Sweet I knew there had to be a better one out there somewhere. I wonder what that would look like on a 67 panel, hmm doubt I'll ever do it but the thought has crossed my mind....

Re: 67 chevy truck w/ camaro grill *NEW PIC!!!*

It's been a few years now, but I remember a magazine did a "sketchpad" of what a 67 short fleet would look like with some camaro touches added to it and it looked KILLER. In addition to what is shown above, they added camaro styled bumpers over front and rear roll pans and a 69 Z28 style white with hugger orange stripes... I think.... I just remembered thinking how killer that would look

I tried to google it, but came up empty. I have WAAAAY too many magazines stacked up in my closet to even think about looking for it

Re: 67 chevy truck w/ camaro grill *NEW PIC!!!*

The AMT model kits had a grill option like that.I picked up on the raised hood,too,on both.I don`t think that truck is hitched to that trailer.

Re: 67 chevy truck w/ camaro grill *NEW PIC!!!*

That was one of the pics that inspired me to do what I am about to. The other one was the SS396 pair that adorned one of the mags of the day. I think they were both 69's...an Elky towing a Chevelle. Both painted the same way with a matching trailer.

Always wanted to have a matching pair of trucks and since the 67 fell into my lap, I am going to do it. The 70 will get a 67 or 68 front end.

A much better pic Andy, thanks for posting it! I'll have to check that one out. I need to get the other one for my collection....if I could just remember which mag published it.

Unfortunately, GM DOES crush a lot of their prototypes and test vehicles that don't make production. That's one of the reason's Stacy David quit modifying new GM trucks on TRUCKS! GM CRUSHED the S-10 and I think a silverado he built.

The only thing I remember about that chop was Longhair had just taught me how to make a truck white from a dark color. Coincidence as far as where it came from...Unless they copied me =)
