Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Sides lined with Dynamat, and then topped off with 1&1\2" rigid insulation.
No holes in the side of the bed, but there are holes in the top trim piece. Also, did the Cheyenne packages include carpeting over the wheel-wells, or were they the same as the K5's? Thanks, Pat Last edited by Ptjsk; 01-06-2020 at 11:02 PM. |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
No K5s regardless of trim level had carpeted wheel wells when assembled by GM. Here’s an example Custom level Jimmy.

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Then I find out that the carpet I ordered through Rock Auto is not correct for my application.
After an hour on the phone, I now find that ACC does not offer a CST for the Jimmy's cargo area. I didn't realize that there were differences. They do offer the CST cargo area for Blazers.????? So I guess I have to order the Blazer cargo area if I want to have for the CST package. Then a hell of a lot of fun attempting to talk to anyone at Rock Auto. They want all communication only available through computer. So they want me to send the entire carpet set back. All I need is the cargo area changed out for the CST package. And to top that off, the box the carpet arrived in was mutilated! Torn, ripped and taped over much of the box. Obviously, I can't return it in the same box as directed. After a hell of a lot of frustration, and leaving a message at Rock Auto's Headquarters, I did receive a call back. I had to send him my VIN, the factory part number, and pictures of product as well as the box. Hopefully I will be able to come to a resolve soon. Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
You bet. That’s frustrating. Did Rockauto have an option to select CST or non-CST versions?

I called ACC and they said that nothing was noted in their Jimmy selection. I asked her to look at the Blazers, and she replied that there was an option for CST. But again, none for the Jimmys. |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Rock Auto came through.
Apparently they contacted ACC and ACC is sending me a cargo carpet area for a '72 Blazer with CST option. Hopefully ACC will add that option to their website for a Jimmy. Just have to be patient now. Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
More progress on the Jimmy.
Finally tracked down the clattering noise. Thought it was a lifter problem. Finally found it. Look at the top pic and the valley that the push rod comes through. The builder used too long of bolt on the intake manifold. Still waiting for seat covers to arrive. Once here, I'll take the seats out and install the front carpeting. In the meantime, I needed to find a cup holder. As they aren't too easy to find, I went ahead and made one. Rear seat, and carpeting installed. My Grandson's wanted "racing belts". So I installed the belts for them. Also installed the new radio, radio speaker, and all new ducting under the AC dash. That was a lot of fun....NOT! Working out the little things, but it's on the road! Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Actually driving it quite a bit now.
I have been waiting for spring/summer to arrive so I can take off the top and prepare doors and bed area for paint. Looks like we're experiencing historically low rainfall, so I may be doing it sooner than I think. Also, front seat covers arrived last night. Does anybody know of any tutorials on applying new seat covers to these? Thanks, Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
I just put in new seat covers (back seat is still original), foam and carpeting into my '72 Jimmy.
I need to paint the back hard shell covers to the seat. Does anybody know a specific paint color/code that is used for the bright blue interior? Thanks, Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Very pleased with the upholstery complete.
A few minor wrinkles, but I still need to take a heat gun to them. Waiting for my Coco mats, so I don't stain the blue carpeting! Kind of wish I would have went with black carpeting now. Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
Looks good. Funny, this weekend I was cursing my black carpet as it shows a lot of debris.

Man....I missed out on those beautiful steps that Mike sells. So I thought, what the heck, I'll just build me up some.
Definitely time consuming! The steps from Mike are a bargain price! Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
I saw that you said you had those rally wheels that are on it, did you ever say where you got them from? Or did they come on it?

I do like them, but I'm really leaning towards the white steelies with the dog dish hubcaps. I do have a set of white steel wheels (made in the USA), that are 15" x 10". I'm not sure I want to go 10" wide, and may prefer to stay with 8" wide. Still making decisions! Pat |

Re: Ptjsk '72 Jimmy Build
If I’m not mistaken Precision is not offering a push-on style weatherstrip for the doors. I’ll see if I can locate a relevant post. This might be a good option. Are you planning to replace the vent window rubber as well?
