Anybody know any new and advanced ideas for the stepside tailgates besides those darn chains?

There is a tech article in the current Custom Classic Trucks that replace the chains with hidden latches and some sort of strut or rod. Looks pretty cool, but they say it only supports about 175 lbs. That means I couldn't even sit on the thing!

The orange truck has the setup I was talking about from the current Custom Classic Trucks issue. Looks nice, but can it hold me up????? We still use tailgates as chairs 'round here.

Ive heard of people taking seatbelt parts and using them as connectors. Sorry, no pics.

I've seen the cables from later model trucks used for supports. As far as latches, there are dozens of different things. Many good ideas have already been shown.

I have a tailgate for sale that has the seatbelt change already done to it.. It has the louvered center stated in it also. I can get pics when the rain stops..
