Grande deep clean

Bought this GMC in March and finally getting to some deep cleaning as I noticed how crappy dirty it was under the seat. Removed the seat, vacuumed, and washed the floor with some soap n water. Noted a few things. Original carpet with GM part number tag in good condition, original sound mat under seat and D & P floor (not in very good condition).
I’m pretty happy to find the steel floor material in good shape, never know what you’re gonna get when you pull the carpet up!
Planning to install aftermarket insulation under carpet to help reduce some road noise, possibly replace carpet with new.
If anyone spots anything out of the ordinary please chime in, thanks for your input.

Re: Grande deep clean

That is soo clean! Looks great.

It appears that the factory didn’t spray the whole floor. Makes sense, but I have always seen the full floor painted. Maybe that’s a specific plant thing?

Here’s a pic of the tag on the carpet, thought this was interesting.

Man that is clean! Is that an aftermarket tachometer cut into the dash? Thats much nicer than strapping one to the column.

It is an aftermarket tach, brand is Suntech. Think it’s been there a long time based on the vintage of it, makes me wonder if it may have been a dealer add on option, anyone heard of this?

Re: Grande deep clean

Poke out all the drain slots in the rockers and front A pillers.

You would be surprised what ends up in there.

Re: Grande deep clean

Very nice K2500! The center of your floor looks to be medium olive. I wonder if the cab ever got swapped on it? Every one of these trucks I've ever had the floor was always body color if it wasn't rust.

Well that would ruin my day.... not because I don’t like medium olive or medium olive trucks, but would poke a hole in my theory of a ‘nearly original’ ochre GMC. There are definitely signs of a splash n dash paint job on the cab, possibly on a non original cab. I’ll dig a little more and see if I can see any other indications.

Either way I’m still happy with it overall !!

Re: Grande deep clean

Pretty safe bet that's not the color it was from the factory. Inside cab was always sprayed primary color im 99.9999% certain.

Wouldn't let it bug you, still an awesome truck. If it bugs you too much let me know and Ill make you an offer haha

Re: Grande deep clean

On my 67 Fremont 503 Burban I have noticed under the dash and in a couple of the rear spaces that would be covered by the interior pieces the truck was partially sprayed with a medium blue color before the 503 green was sprayed. It may have been a mistake during the assembly of the truck or maybe they painter was just emptying his paint gun before cleaning.
(CUE MUSIC) No one will ever know for sure.
