Question Dash panel

I'm going to order a new dash panel. I want the threes hole speedometer, tach & Fuel. I don't want the four holes on the bottom. I'm going to put my own gauges in. I will drill & install Autometer. Anyone got pictures that have done this. I know I can't be the only one with this idea. Thanks

Re: Dash panel

Dayj's truck has a modified 3-hole gauge cluster. No tach though. Scroll down toward the bottom of this thread.

I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but may be worth checking out.

Re: Dash panel

Another route you could take
If you’re going to put you gauges in the dash panel anyway, I’ve seen where guys will mount the aftermarket gauges in the stock holes, but you have to carefully cut them out for the larger cups.
This way the stock spacing is already there.

Re: Dash panel

Stepsider;
I added a transmission temperature gauge to a cluster a long time ago. I was never really happy with the look but it functioned fine. It always looked like a add on. May have been better if I had changed them all? Using the correct diameter gauges is really important for "the look". Purchase the new bezel and then complete the first prototype using the old bezel. Undoubtedly you will find improvement you can incorporate in the design.

Re: Dash panel

I have a 3 hole cluster I'm going to put in my jimmy eventually. Not a great pic, but it does show it. I used gauges from a 65 chevelle and also a had to do a lot of work to make everything work together. I basically copied this from soon2blaze's build, here's a link. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...6&postcount=85

Good luck, Rg

There are a couple of threads on here where guys have used a glove box door and made their own gauge panel.

Read through this thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=261786

Most of the conversion work starts on page 2.

Re: Dash panel

The ones I posted were from a 65 chevelle with the sport package, not sure what dayj used but it looks similar.

I have a couple of those from a '60's-'70's school bus. I mounted one in a '67 or '68 2 hole dash but never finished it. I will have to dig it out and look at it again.

EDIT: I found a thread that I posted some info about it in also....

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=363858 Wow! That was a long time ago. No wonder I don't remember a lot about it...

Re: Dash panel

Mine from my 68 project.
I used a stock bezel. I used Auto Meter 5" speedo and tach. 2 1/8" for gas, volt, oil and temp gauges. The 2 1/8" gauge between the speedo and tach is for turn signals and high beam lights.
To make it work I took a 18 gauge piece of sheet metal and cut it to fit just inside the bezel edge. Hole sawed the gauge holes as needed. Cut gauge holes before you trim it to fit because the hole saw can catch and wreck the panel. Ask me how I know.
Then after painting it with spray bomb wrinkle finish black paint to kind of match the stock bezel I epoxied glued it to the bezel. Worked great.
See attached pic.
