Possible to shorten a factory 64 C10 steering column?

It's the stk 3 speed manual column. Truck has been converted to a s10 5 speed.
Not looking to swap the column to something else if possible.

I saw this thread for the later model trucks, would this work?

Looks like they moved it forward. The problem with the linkage not working properly would be my first guess.
The length of the column shaft from the end of the column to the steering box would have to be changed.
I don't think the mounting slots on the column would be long enough:

Read through this blog. A great source for T5 info.

He is on this site, not sure if his handle is Lugnutz or not.

Look for a 67-69 floor column, it will look a lot like a 63-66 but has an intermediate shaft that you can collapse.

Yes the original column can be shortened since you're no longer using the column linkage w/the s10 5spd swap.

Board member @gringoloco shortened/modified an original 3spd column like yours. It's a great build thread but the info you want will be starting @ pg77 post #1924......

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
