Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

Here are the GM trucks and maybe an interesting OT rig from our trip to the Old Steel car show at Fullbright park in Union Gap Wa Today.

Lots of LS powered rigs this year and some real interesting ones.

The rest of the photos I took are in my smugmug album here https://robertdavison.smugmug.com/20...teel-car-show/

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

This little two tone brown and tan truck was supposed to be the lead photo of the thread but my computer had other ideas. It's been around the area for quite a while and the young gent who has it has made a few changes lately.

Nice little black truck and I tossed the burb in as it seems to be a family rig with the whole family kicking in.

This little two tone green AD gets most of two pages, The full meal deal as far as trinkets but everything works to make it a whole package and nothing is added that doesn't belong there. It even had oem style seat covers on it.

Montana truck built in a shop in California.

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

A few more shots of the green AD A lesson here is that every part on the truck works with every other part to make one nice truck. There is nothing on this truck that isn't proper or from the wrong era.

The late 30's 3/4 ton wheels were never a factory AD item but we have seen them on AD trucks from the get go. I'd imagine that in late 1947 some guy with a new 47-1/2 looked at his new truck and looked at his late 30's 3/4 ton and said "those would look better on the new one" and the swap was made.

OOPS I sneaked a pup in here that my daughter and son in law got to pet on the way out.

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

A bit of off topic Sunday here. The Packard pickup looks like it may have started as a Sedan and now it has a bed that has seats built into the bed sides. A nice rig that I'd bet has hit a number of parades.

The duster was just finished by Mike Gordy who in the fall of 1978 was one of my first Auto mechanics students that I taught for three years in High school auto shop and then pretty well made a career of working on cars with a few breaks to try other things at times. He did the duster for a young gent who is going to save it for is daughter who is about 12 and it will be her car when she is old enough to drive.

In one of the photos Mike is in the black shirt talking to my daughter Kerri who has known him since she was born her hubby Sam and my wife Jean.

The Duster is a full rotisserie rig that is done right.

Nice 57 that I hadn't seen before and a pretty stock AD that my camera likes every time it sees it.

Interior shot of the blue AD

I couldn't get a side shot of the Cameo because the guy standing there was trying to get the owner on the phone. I took the shot of the for sale sign but didn't see the OMG 15K price tag, 15K for a nice driving Cameo with a 250 and automatic.

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

I think I have found my tow rig for my boat and hot rod trailer. All I have to do is win the power ball and talk him out of it.

Small window to boot, The first truck I ever owned was a 67 C 10 with all the bells and whistles. The truck is actually the Chevy Bright yellow from 71/72

Then I got to meet a supermodel who was happy to pose for a photo.

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

The COE was pretty nifty and rigged with a tilt cab.

I'm wondering if the extended cab 57 is a truck that I have been taking photos of in primer for a number of years.

Last couple of shots are some of the trucks and some of the stuff at the Central Washington Agriculture Museum where the show was held.

I didn't take a photo but my niece had her what I crave food truck out there selling Tacos and sliders like crazy. There were about 60 people in line when we walked by.

That's all of the stuff that is on topic for the board that I took photos of. I didn't post a couple that I have posted several times before.

It's the first real event of the year locally and is 15 miles from the house. Obviously an open show that anything can be entered as long as you have the entry fee.

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

I didn't take as many photos as I usually do.

at least half the cars weren't very interesting as it is an open event as long as you have the entry fee and a fund raiser for the museum plus all too many people set up their lawn chairs in front of their cars there and camp in front of them making it hard to get a decent shot.

COE is a mix, AD front and TF rear body parts. nice job on extending the fenders. makes you wonder why not use the AD body parts.must have had the TF stuff laying around.
nice pics, thanks for posting.

Re: Old Steel car show Union Gap Wa 4-24-22

I'm just thinking that it was easier to come up with the 55.2 and later step side fenders and easier to lengthen them. I don't remember seeing the truck before but there were several cars and trucks making their debut there. Or older rigs that had been redone over the past year or two. Covid shutdowns meant that a lot of delayed work got done in this area. The notion that "If I can't go to events I will tear it down and fix________.
