Special "fall harvest" package??

today i saw a 1969 c-10 lwb with a very ugly color, it was dark green yellow 2-tone, (the yellow is where the white would be on a factory two-tone, roof and all) the guy told me it is a very rare package, it came from the factory that color, and they called it a fall harvest package. i cant find a damn thing about it anywhere, and i think the guy is FOS or at least was mis-informed.

the seat in his truck is the same as the seat in mine, is white vinal, with green pladd. (btw mine is in excelent shape) he said that the seat only comes in that model.

so is my seat worth some money, or is he full of it???

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

Sounds like a Highlander seat. Don't know about the harvest thing.

Sounds like a COPO to me.Maybe painted that way for some business. Those were the days when you could custom order what you wanted in a new vehicle.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

I seem to remember that color scheme popping up on here before. It may have been a COPO or limited production item. I do not believe it had a special name. The plaid seats are the "Highlander" seats.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

My '69 Truck Sales Book has nothing on that "special" paint combo. I don't recall seeing anything on that sort of seat, either. But that doesn't mean that something special wasn't done. In '69, you could order any combo of paiint and interior that you had to cajones to order and pay for. If you had a red body, you could order a green interior, if that is what you wanted to do. We didn't have the interior decorators working for the company that they have these days.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

If it was a special promotion it wouldn`t be in the sales book because it would have been introduced late in the model year, like the Highlander in`72.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

i saw it again and its a 72 and after finding out about the highlander, it definitly has the whole hilander interior. the guy is still misinformed because it has ralleys, and a steering wheel from a 73 that he says are factory. but it does have air and its in great shape. the paint however has been re-done but he says the color wasnt changed from factory. but he wants $12000 for it. and its for sure been used, the bed has dents inside and the re-paint isnt that great of quality. if i can get some pics of it, i will post them

I know this is an old thread but pretty sure this is the truck the op is talking about. Guy told me the same story years ago. Now it's for sale https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...ibextid=dXMIcH

It would be interesting to see a pic of the SPID label.

Did they put the AC compressor on the driver's side from the factory on a 350? Mine's on the passenger side as most I've seen. Just curious.

Yup! That would tell the story. It's also doubled+ in price over the intervening 15 years.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

Maybe it's a dealer promo thing, like the Macho Trans Am stuff. Not a factory package.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

AC was on the driver's side in earlier year Chevrolets, so maybe the engine is a transplant, complete with compressor and hoses. OR, maybe it's really a '69 that has been thoroughly "massaged"?

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

Maybe it was a regional option? I am not sure if GM did options like this, but packages like the Mustang "Twister" or the "California Special" were limited to a dealer region.

Passenger cars had the AC compressor on the passenger side through 1968. Due to the alternator being on the drivers side. Then in 1969 they flipped them and the AC compressor went to the drivers side. Also started using long water pumps in 69 (for small blocks). I think the trucks kept the short pumps and the older accessory configuration (so ac would be on the passenger side) through 1972 and then made the change in 1973

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

Seeing the SPID would help show if it left the factory with that paint. If anything it's a dealer or regional promotion. I'm not seeing fall colors in that truck. I've heard both named after baby poop. Could it be a diarrhea special? My first one of these trucks was a Highlander. Back then I didn't care about details on the SPID. For many many years I remembered it as the Holiday package, until I saw others with Highlander on the SPID. People remember wrong and stories get twisted without knowing.

Re: Special "fall harvest" package??

Most likely a dealer promo like mine . Mine is a Husky edition and says so on the build sheet . Special paint and a few other items like decals were part of the promo
