72 Door panel install help please

Anyone have a sketch or drawing showing how the handle and crank pieces go in a 72 door? When I got my truck it had no interior. Wondering if I need foam spacers, springs or plastic washers & I see the plastic panels have an escutcheon on them.

You said you needed help installing the door and window cranks and associated parts. The way those parts mount is the same from 1967 to 1972. The 1972 door handle and window crank stub out sticks out slightly further to accommodate those plastic door panels. But everything works the same otherwise.

Those pictures should help you with the assembly except for the installation of the door panel which in 72 is held on by plastic clips.

Re: 72 Door panel install help please

Other than the handle clips there is nothing else involved . At least that’s the way my truck is .

Re: 72 Door panel install help please

+1 on post #6. With that said IDK if originally there were any plastic stepped washers for the window cranks pn my 72 C10 like my 67 Camaro has. Given the door panels are hard plastic

...but the illustration post in # 2 shows item "7" goes between panel and window & door handle...so that may be the plastic washer thing similar to what my 67 Camaro uses...if not the same

Re: 72 Door panel install help please

72 has a thick foam washer between the door and the door panel.

Re: 72 Door panel install help please

I am no expert, I'm just the guy asking questions. But, what I think I have figured out is the 72's do not use the escutcheon. Just the plastic stepped washer. If you have wood grain panels then the foam goes in between the panel and the wood grain part.

Re: 72 Door panel install help please

The foam washer goes over the crank stud, then the panel goes on, then the stepped plastic washer, then the handle. The wood grain is held to the panel by the stainless trim. Nothing goes between the panel and the woodgrain.

davischevy is correct. Don't rely on aftermarket parts catalogs for correct information. I've found several errors in every catalog

Re: 72 Door panel install help please

I can't speak too much for 72. The escutcheons differ from 71, same perhaps the flush washers. Seems there's a plastic washer or two.

You might contact Wes at Classic Heartbeat, he knows the doors for certain and can get the parts.
