1973-75 tailgate trim panel mounting

Just picked up a tailgate trim panel for my 74 Cheyenne Super. I don't have the mounting holes in my tailgate, nor do I know how it should be affixed to the tailgate. Couple questions:
  1. Does anyone have a pic of an OEM tailgate that had a trim panel?
  2. Does anyone sell a mounting kit? I'm not finding one anywhere....

Appreciate the help with this. I don't want to screw up my tailgate/paint.

Can you post a pic of the trim panel? I have several tailgates just want to see the panel your email referring to. I’m assuming it’s the small panel.

Re: 1973-75 tailgate trim panel mounting

The trim panel on my '74 Cheyenne Super is screwed on, the screws go through the tailgate into the trim piece. Cheyenne Super's had the large filler panel not the skinny one that fit into the recessed area on the gate. I don't have a good picture of the screws though since the spray in bed liner covered them up. There are some used trim panels on EBay with decent pictures showing the backside and where the clip nuts or u-nuts go like this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/16505239586...yABEgLq6_D_BwE

Nice truck!

Wow, so the screws go all the way through the tailgate and then screw into the clips on the back of the panel. I wish someone sold the correct screws for this. Seems like something you want to get right the first time....
