Strange Transmission Leak/Crack

Hey all, looking for advice. I have a TH350 in a 1972 C10, Automatic. There is fluid leaking from above the pan, in the case. It’s coming out of the hole (I think it’s a hole) that I circled in the picture. I am not sure what this part of transmission does. Is it a vent? Can I just try plugging it up? Thank you guys!

I don't recall there being a hole there in the few I've rebuilt. BUT, the servo cover is also right there. You sure it's not spitting out of that cover and OVER towards that hole?

Thanks for the reply, I am sure. It leaks while it just sitting. That servo cover area is dry. Just wet coming out of that circled area. It drips onto the pan and down. Thought it was the pan, at first. Might just try some RapidFix/Quick Steel combo if it isn’t some vent or something. Just wasn’t sure, I thought the vent was always toward the top of transmission.

This is the hole the park pawl pin is in.
It's possible it was damaged when the vehicle was put into park while moving?
Or the plug is missing is missing or damaged. The plug is on the side next to the governor. You can removed the governor cover with a screwdriver and an hammer to get a better look.

Yes, a dowel which the parking pawl uses as the pivot is the area you have circled. I think it's a press fitted part, anyhow if there is a plug (such as a small freeze plug looking) it can be repaired/replaced or resealed. This would not be a fluid under pressure area. The case may be cracked?

If you clean it out real good with brake cleaner and make sure theres no big globs of grease in there you can just fill it with JB Weld. This way It can be drilled out later. Or possibly use silicone sealer.

Thank you all for the responses! I’m going to try cleaning and sealing it, and see if the leak stops or slows. This is the best forum around for a reason.

I’d check the vent is clean first.
